In Italy, the company has one of its six production plants: GROB Italy is a strategic technology centre for the development and production of electric motor lines, as well as a distributor and dedicated service centre for GROB universal machines throughout the country.
In recent years, however, one truth has become increasingly clear: even the most powerful machine tool cannot reach its full potential without an ecosystem that efficiently integrates tool management and preparation. In this context, even the smallest manual error can slow down an entire production line or compromise the quality of the machined parts.
It was precisely this awareness that led to the collaboration between GROB and Elbo Controlli NIKKEN. The goal was clear and shared: to create a digital and operational flow in which the machine, tool and data communicate continuously and automatically, increasing the precision, efficiency and safety of production processes.
The integration of Elbo Controlli NIKKEN presetters and TID (Tool Identification Data) and TTS (Tool Tracking System) systems has made it possible to structure an advanced production environment designed to reduce human error, improve tool preparation and consolidate a consistent and reliable data flow.
The four priorities underlying the collaboration
In order to define a clear, value-oriented path, we have identified four shared strategic objectives, which today form the basis for the integration of our systems.
- Reduce set-up times: thanks to the automatic transfer of tool data from Elbo Controlli NIKKEN presetters to GROB machines, manual entries and potential human errors are eliminated. This speeds up tooling, increases process repeatability and improves the overall efficiency of the production flow
- Increase precision and quality of parts: GROB machines are renowned for their rigidity, stability and performance. Integrating a high-precision presetter ensures that every tool arrives at the machine fully measured, checked and verified. The result is a significant reduction in defects, rejects and micro-variations that can compromise the quality of the part
- Ensure traceability and advanced digital management: TID and TTS systems allow each tool to be identified and monitored throughout its entire life cycle. This leads to more effective predictive management, intelligent maintenance and full compliance with Industry 4.0 principles. Traceability thus becomes an element of safety, control and added value for all production environments
- Generate tangible benefits for customers: technology is a tool, but the real goal is the result.
